          DOUBLE REEDS
The double reeds are the family of instruments that is newest to me.  I started my first oboe lesson in January 2011, and had my first bassoon lesson in late August.  It's been a real adventure, and I really enjoy playing both these instruments.  Like all the woodwinds, they have their own unique set of challenges.  Can't wait to learn more about these great instruments!

MORE DETAILS AND PICS COMING SOON ...

          Oboe:
Gordet (certainly a stencil, probably a Bulgheroni), c. 1970.  Full conservatory system, third octave key, B-C link, B-C# link, left F, F-resonance, low B-flat resonance.  I got this in the summer of 2011, and it's really a bit brighter than I'd like.  I'm trying to learn to make reeds that will warm up the tone a little bit.  It has a very light touch, and is a pleasure to play.  The forked F is very clear, and overall it plays well in tune.

          Bassoon:
Linton 5K.  This is a student level black plastic bassoon which I bought on eBay (which is always a leap of faith) but this one is in great shape -- it literally looked unplayed when I got it.  I don't think I'm a good enough bassoon player to give it a proper assessment, so I'll just leave it at that.
